The subject of this book is the clarification of the oneness which Allah has made obligatory on His servants and for which He created them and the clarification of the major association which opposes it or that which opposes its perfection , obligatory or recommended, in terms of minor association and (religious) innovations.

• And the meaning of kitâb (the book): it is the root (of the verb) kataba which has the meaning of jama'a (to group together) and al-kitâbah bil-qalam (writing with the pen) is to group together letters and words.
• And at-tawhîd (oneness): it is the root of wahhadahu: that is to say reduce to the number one and the meaning here is: to devote exclusive worship to Allah.
• And khalaqtou (I created): Creation is the creation of the thing without foundation or model.
• Liya'boudoun (may they worship Me): ibâdah is in its linguistic sense: humility and submission. And in its religious sense: It is a generic name for everything that Allah loves and is pleased with in terms of overt and hidden words and actions.
