There is no doubt that human beings are exposed to misfortunes and will inevitably go through trials in this present life, among them the various illnesses that can affect them. But this is only a test from Allah and a test from Him – Exalted be He, so that the true believer (in his faith) who is patient and seeks reward from from Him, stands out from the hypocrite with weak faith, who becomes impatient and is not satisfied with what happens to him. During this test, the one who restricts himself to treatment in accordance with what Allah – Praise be to Him, the Most High – has authorized, will also stand out from those who do not attach importance to this and treat themselves by means illicit without fear of corrupting their beliefs.

And certainly, during this ordeal everyone will stand out from each other. However, the matter is more serious than it seems. Because what is required above all of the Muslim when he falls ill is that he knows that it comes from Allah – Praise be to Him, the Most High – and that he does not have to be impatient or to show anger when this happens. Rather, it is his responsibility to resort to legal treatment to cure himself, because Allah has given every disease a cure.
