The obligation to verify Information and respect Scholars - Shaykh Al-Fawzân - Ibn Badis

The author, Shaykh Sâlih Ibn Fawzân Ibn 'Abd Allah l Fawzân says:

Certainly, the presence of cultivated and enthusiastic preachers does not replace that of scholars in the community, and the Prophet (SallAllahu Alayhi wa sallam) informed us that at the end of time, there would be many reciters of the Qur'ân (Quran ), but few will understand it. (As found in a hadith in Al-Hâkim (4/8412), Al-Haythamî (1/187) and Ibn 'Abd Al-Barr in Jâmi' bayân Al-'Ilm wa Fadlihi (1/156))

These are reciters, but are not endowed with understanding. To attribute the scholarly name to these people is to attribute it to others than those who deserve it, because it is reality and not titles that must be considered. There are many who excel in speech and make the common people incline towards them, although they are not endowed with understanding.

And what reveals these individuals are the situations that arise and which require knowledge of Islamic judgments, when the understanding of these preachers and enthusiasts shows its limits, and thus the role of scholars is manifested. We must therefore be careful of this and give scholars their rights, recognize their place and virtue and place everyone in the place that suits them.
